Addu, on the equator — what we got right and wrong.
We sent fifteen clients south to Gan in 2025. Eight came back delighted. Three regretted it. What separates the two groups, in their own words.
Addu is geographically remarkable — it sits south of the equator, and is the only Maldivian atoll where you can drive between four inhabited islands on a road. It also has the British Loyalty wreck, the only diveable WWII shipwreck in the country. And yet — three of our fifteen 2025 Addu placements left disappointed. Here's what we learned.
Who Addu is for
Repeat divers. People who've already done Baa and Ari and want a less-photographed atoll. Wreck enthusiasts. Couples on a second-week add-on, not a single-week destination.
Who it isn't for
First-timers expecting overwater postcards. The transfers are long, the resort options are few, and the magic is mostly underwater.
