Every year between June and November, Hanifaru Bay in Baa Atoll becomes the stage for one of nature's greatest spectacles. Hundreds of manta rays gather to feed on plankton concentrated by the bay's unique geography, creating a swirling underwater ballet that leaves every visitor speechless.
The best time to visit is typically August to October, when the largest aggregations occur. Water temperatures are a comfortable 27-29°C, and visibility ranges from 10 to 30 metres depending on the plankton density — ironically, the murkier the water, the more mantas you'll see.
